Now Mercedes-Benz has seven SUVs: from a small GLA to a brutal G-class charismatic monster. But the most popular of the brand’s model range is not this one, but the GLC crossover, the second best-selling model after the E-Class.
This is a mid-size crossover with corresponding external dimensions: length 4655mm, width 1890mm, height 1644mm.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a premium four-wheel-drive SUV that combines dynamic styling, first-class interiors, efficient technical equipment, and innovative technologies.
Car leasing of Mercedes GLC is perfect for city dwellers who are used to an active lifestyle and who are not willing to sacrifice anything in their daily life.
The latest changes are touching-up, but they are there. First of all, the radiator grille has changed: a large diamond-shaped one, with three design options, is available, depending on the modification.
There are other headlights: their size has been reduced and the main differentiator now is a strip of daytime running lights, made in the form of a “torch”. The headlights are now always LED only and adaptive matrix optics are offered at an additional cost.
The rear lights have also changed, with a new rear bumper and other parts of the exhaust system. In general, it has not been modified that much, but it does not require more than the usual restyling.
GLC received “four” turbocharged M 264 two-liter (petrol) and OM 654 (diesel), which are combined with a nine-speed “automatic” and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
You may consider your Mercedes Benz GLC lease deals with two petrol versions and now both are hybrids. The motor is complemented by a 10 kW (150 Nm) electric motor, which is used for energy recovery during braking, promotes strong acceleration, and is powered by a 48 V network.
The base GLC 200 produces 197 HP (280 Nm), while the 300 version produces 249 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque.
The petrol engines, 220 d, and 300 d produce 194 (400 Nm) and 245 (500 Nm) horsepower, respectively. Their main improvement lies in the fact that they have been adapted to the latest environmental requirements.
Handling
The crossover, equipped with Air Body Control, can be incredibly comfortable on the regular road. Although when you go a bit further than the flat motorway, the rocking may become too great and the steering wheel too relaxed.
In Sport mode, the steering wheel gets heavier, the transmission responds to what and when you want from it, and the suspension tightens a bit. It becomes more sensitive to potholes, but at the same time is still comfortable enough for city driving, even on bumpy surfaces.
As for the 249 horsepower engine, according to official characteristics, the car gains “one hundred” in 6.2 seconds.
The interior has been modernized and synchronized in style with the rest of the Mercedes cars. There is a new steering wheel with touch information panels, as, for example, in the E and S-class.
Standard infotainment features include:
Behind it is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and in the center console there is a screen (7 or 10.25 inches) from the MBUX multimedia complex.
It can be operated in four ways at the same time: from the screen itself, through the steering wheel buttons and voice control, as well as through the new touch panel on the center console, replacing the old windscreen washer and using gestures.
As with the new GLE, a camera in the roof console monitors the gestures of the driver or passenger, tracking the approach of the hand to the screen or touch panel. In the dark, the car will even turn on the headlights if it notices that the driver is reaching for the passenger seat to find something there.
Another feature of the MBUX complex is augmented reality navigation. This is very convenient: when approaching an exit or the desired turn, a video camera is activated at the top of the windshield, displaying the situation in front of the car on the center screen in real-time.
This image is superimposed on important navigational information, such as a large arrow showing the desired maneuver.
Mercedes-Benz GLC lease offers are available in the following trims: GLC 300, GLC 300 4Matic, AMG GLC 43, and AMG GLC 63. They come with different engines but the main highlights of standard and optional features are similar. The GLC 300 4Matic has the same features as GLC 300 but with all-wheel drive.
A private lease of Mercedes GLC is a good option in the luxury compact SUV segment. It’s easy and enjoyable to drive, it handles well around corners, it has an overall pleasant ride and an impressive selection of engines.
The standard turbocharged engine offers quick acceleration and good fuel economy, while several performance-oriented AMG models offer more power, better handling, and agility.
