The Genesis GV80 arrives in the US in two petrol configurations: a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with 300 hp. and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 with 375 hp. The Genesis GV80 lease 2.5T is available in rear-wheel drive (AWD) and the higher-performance 3.5T model with all-wheel drive only. Both engines rotate the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, electronically switchable via a precious rotary switch mounted on the center console.
Originality, creativity, and playfulness were evident everywhere, from the movement of needles on digital 3D sensors to Sound of Nature sound settings on the 14.5-inch infotainment screen. However, not a single facet of the GV80 seemed ill-considered by the consumers.
Every Genesis experience is as enjoyable as the cars themselves. All steps of a Genesis GV80 lease process can be done online in 20 minutes, without having to travel to different dealerships.
You will be contacted by your personal Grand Prix Motors assistant who will guide you through the entire process from viewing your model to delivery. There are no hard sales here since we work independently of the manufacturers. We strive to provide the best offer that suits your needs, on the most convenient terms for you.
Young luxury automaker Genesis has proven quite capable of challenging European and Japanese luxury brands and is now entering the premium SUV game with the 2021 GV80. The GV80 outperforms the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-class.
Development was led by Sangup Lee, a former Bentley employee. Outside there is a lot of chrome and wide curves. Inside is a world of vibrant leather embroidery, fluted handles, and wooden curls.
The GV80 is a completely new player in the luxury midsize SUV market and is also the first Genesis SUV.
Since all GV80 models are equipped with features such as a 14.5-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, and an electric tailgate, even the entry-level models look luxurious enough.
It’s a big crossover, almost the same as the BMW X5. Seven seats are optional. The engines are 2.5-liter petrol and 3-liter in-line diesel, and both have four-wheel drive as standard.
The base model will provide the rear-wheel drive. Optionally you can get Genesis SUV GV80 lease with the all-wheel drive. We started both engines and instrumental tested both the V-6 and the four-cylinder. Generally, we can report that the new SUV is characterized by agility and serenity.
This midsize luxury crossover shares the same all-new foundation as the upcoming next-gen G80 sedan and is available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Engine options start with a 300-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and scale up to a 375-hp 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6, the latter of which delivers a fast 5.3-second speed from zero to 60 mph. time on our test track.
With the turbo four, the GV80 delivered 6.1 seconds from zero to 60 mph slower, but many drivers won’t lose the extra power. A hybrid variant has been rumored, but so far Genesis has not released any information on such a powertrain.
It’s refined enough and the eight-speed car matches well with it. But it doesn’t really push you forward with the kind of authority you find in (inevitably German) rivals. And yet he is also relatively thirsty.
Driving and cornering are reassuring, but many rivals do better.
The big problem is the trip. There is too much commotion. Bumps and potholes make the entire chassis feel like it’s shaking under you. Larger jumps and ridges make the whole car move and float.
With its base engine, this SUV model performs 21 mpg in the city. For the highway this numbers ups to 25 mpg, which shows slightly better results compared to many other vehicles in the class. Ratings drop a few miles per gallon to 18/23 mpg city/highway on V6 models.
The interior of the GV80 ushers in a new and more exclusive atmosphere for the Genesis line. Burled wood trim, metallic accents, built-in mood lighting, and a large infotainment screen make it all stylish yet uncluttered. Despite the sleek materials, the interior design provides a sense of minimalism that feels truly elegant in person.
The GV80 features one of the best interiors in its class. It is beautifully crafted, with an attractive and simplistic style. The quality of the materials is exceptional and few rivals in its class can match it.
A standard three-seat bench in the second row seats five passengers; the third row of seats is an optional feature, but space in the rear is limited and should be considered an exclusive spot for children.
Some hits and misses here. For one thing, the user interface is different, looks great, and offers different ways to interact with the infotainment. But the clickable knurled spinning wheel is somewhat clunky to operate.
What doesn’t help is the inconsistent structure of the on-screen menu. The combination results in an infotainment system that is not intuitive and is often distracting when on the go.
In terms of the passenger space, this model is similar to the average midsize SUV. One exception: the headroom is slightly narrower. Access to the optional third row is better than most other vehicles in this segment, but the third row is quite small and is best reserved for children.
The step height feels a bit taller than average, but the seat height is at hip level for the average adult, allowing you to slide down quite easily. Seeing out of the cab is easy thanks to the large windows and strategically placed mirrors.
Most critics praise the GV80’s infotainment system. The giant 14.5-inch screen has sharp graphics and there are some touchscreen controls. Most of the system is operated with a rotary controller, which allows you to adjust settings in various ways, including typing commands. Despite its versatility, some users say it’s distracting to use the rotary dial.
